Chrisman Vanwinkle “C.V.” Trater moved his family to Dunnville, KY and began clearing his land and cutting timber to manufacture woode gates. In 1945 he founded Trater Gate Company. Using only hand tools, the Tater’s made 32 wooden gates a week and C.V’s son Roger sold them for $2.50 – $3.00 throughout the Bluegrass area.
